Media Center

The Library/Media Center is an area for research and pleasure reading. Books may be checked out for two weeks. A late fine of $.05 per day (per book) is charged for overdue books. Lost books and/or fines must be paid before the school year ends. The student whose name appears last on the book card or on the bar code will be held responsible.

The Media Center is open from 8 am until 3 pm. Students, come by and browse our great selection of books! Hope to see you soon!

The Girard Middle School Library exists to provide the students, faculty and staff with the resources and instruction in information literacy needed to become life-long learners by supporting and complementing the school’s changing curriculum and personal interests of the patrons.

Girard Middle School Media Center has been awarded Lowe's Toolbox for Education Grant. This $5,000 grant allowed us to purchase new books for our students. GMS uses the Media Center to enhance the curriculum and the joy of reading.

GMS has also been awarded a $60,455 grant from Lowe's Large Toolbox for Education. This grant has given us the opportunity to remodel our Media Center. Please stop by and see the terrific improvements at our Media Center!

GMS has been awarded a grant from the Education Foundation for Dothan's Future to purchase 55 nonfiction books for a total of $1280.64.

GMS has been awarded a "We The People" Bookshelf grant which promotes the theme of a More Perfect Union.
